The JISC Regional Support Centre for Yorkshire & Humber today opens entries for the inaugural Evolution Awards. Those in the Higher Education, Further Education and Skills sectors are invited to nominate colleagues that are using technology for the benefit of learners in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Celebrating 10 years of the JISC Regional Support Centres, the scheme was created to recognise regional success with e-learning. The Evolution Awards will highlight good practice and disseminate the many success stories of how technology has benefited learners, organisations, employers and communities in Yorkshire and the Humber.

There are eight categories, covering a variety of job roles and sectors:

  • Bringing Fun to Learning Award
  • Education Without Walls Award
  • Enabling Resources Award
  • Inclusivity Award
  • Innovative Practice Award
  • Inspiring Colleagues Award
  • Leadership Award
  • Technical Award

Marion Miller, Manager of the JISC Regional Support Centre for Yorkshire & Humber, said:
“We are delighted to be introducing the Evolution Awards for the first time. Over the last ten years, the RSC has worked with many talented individuals that have inspired both learners and staff and we would encourage people to nominate their colleagues for an award. We want to highlight what is being achieved in terms of learner engagement and retention through the use of technology within the Yorkshire and Humber region.”

The Evolution Awards take place in association with Digital 20/20, Yorkshire and Humber’s partnership for a connected region. The closing date for award nominations is 5pm on Friday 15th January 2010. The Awards Evening will take place on Monday 22nd March 2010 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
