LSN invites bids for Mobile Learning Network Shared Cost Projects as part of the third phase Mobile Learning Network (MoLeNET).
If you work for an English FE college (including sixth form colleges, Independent Specialist Colleges and Specialist Designated Institutions but not school sixth forms) you can consider proposing a MoLeNET project. Alternatively you might wish to join with other colleges/schools/learning providers to form a MoLeNET consortium that would propose a project in response to the ITT.
The objectives of MoLeNET are to:
- fund and support the introduction, or expansion, of mobile learning in the English learning & Skill sector
- explore the effectiveness and impact of mobile learning on teaching and learning and the issues and challenges to be addressed
- identify and share good practice in mobile learning
- explore strategies for developing sustainable mobile learning provision which is not dependent upon project funding
Since 2007, over 115 colleges and 29 schools (participating in college-led projects) have been involved in MoLeNET.
LSC is making available capital funding to the sum of £2.5 million. Participating colleges will be required to contribute to the MoLeNET programme funding equivalent to 20% of the capital funding requested. Capital funding contributions per project will not be less than £50,000 and not more than £250,000. It is anticipated that approximately 15 projects will be funded. In addition, capital funding will be available for a small number of micro projects, which will be funded to the order of £10,000 to £20,000.
All projects will run from November 2009 to July 2010 with a dissemination conference in late September 2010
Please note that the deadline for on-line submissions is 5pm, Friday 11th September 2009.
