FAM Fair: The Options Explored
4 Mar 2009
York Minster Conference and Banqueting Centre
Should you implement Federated Access Management?
Federated Access Management (FAM) has been the buzzword since the JISC’s announcement of support last summer.
FAM allows students and staff access to a wide-range of resources by using a single username and password, rather than having multiple logins. But is it right for you? And how should it be implemented?
This event will provide delegates with an overview of some of the different approaches colleges across the sector have adopted.
Case studies will explore the implications to cost-saving, resources, staffing, technical issues and the benefits to the learner. For those still considering the options, these case studies will provide delegates with an invaluable opportunity to ask questions and make an informed decision about your own provision.
Aims of event:
• To explore the differing options regarding federated access management
• To identify an appropriate solution to implement at your own institution.
Delegates will be able to:
• Share experiences and good practice of federated access management
• Identify key issues when implementing shibboleth at their institution
