Many of you will have come across the open source Xerte tool that the JISC TechDis have been excited about. Developed by the eLearning team at Nottingham University it creates highly accessible content, now runs as a web toolkit from an installation on your server and allows staff with few skills to create high quality learning objects.

JISC TechDis are sponsoring a free day’s training (1030-1600) on 29th January 2009 in using the the web toolkit version of Xerte at Nottingham. This day will be of interest to

1) staff developers

2) content creators

3) technical teams who will be installing the software on your servers.

Apologies for the short notice. Places are limited to 30 to ensure all delegates have a hands on day. The event will be free of charge and will be run by Julian Tenney, the lead designer.

The event is designed to  share experience in using Xerte and its new templates but also to encourage the growth of a community of developers who can add to the existing collection of templates . We hope to develop links between those who use Xerte for pedagogical purposes and those who can extend the range of templates and contribute to the further development of this outstanding open source tool.

To register for a place please email helpdesk@techdis.ac.uk with the subject line: Xerte Training Day.
