Week 4: My RSC YH Space

The JISC Regional Support Centre introduced its own social networking site for the annual e-Learning Conference 2007 and, since then, it has continued to grow.

Currently, there are 166 members of My RSC YH Space – all teaching professionals with an interest in e-learning.  The site is primarily used around conference time where delegates carry out pre-conference activities, such as creating podcasts and videos – all with the support of JISC RSC YH e-Learning Advisors. It is a great way for delegates to begin networking prior to the main conference and helps makes the most of the event on the day.

But My RSC YH Space is not just for the annual conference.  It is a great space to receive peer support.  As well as creating your own ‘profile’ space, there are groups to join on different areas of interest.  These include:

• Virtual Worlds for Teaching and Learning
• New Build
• e-Learning Tools for Migrant Workers
• Active Learning
• Learning for Employability

And more!  There are also more personal spaces where members can exchange tips for holidays!

In addition to the groups, there are forums where members can discuss and share ideas on e-learning.  Past discussions have been on Peer Review and the school curriculum.  This is a valuable space where members can build on their knowledge and join in on debate.
