The Strategic Content Alliance (SCA) are holding a Peer-Reviewing Workshop on 14 November 2008 between 12.30pm and 4.30pm at the HEFCE offices on the 12th floor of the Centre Point building, 101-103 New Oxford Street, London, WC1A 1DD http://www.hefce.ac.uk/aboutus/findus/london/map.htm.
This event will be focusing on peer-reviewing the ‘SCA Audience Toolkit’ http://sca.jiscinvolve.org/?s=AUDIENCE+ANALYSIS and Case Studies. Further information is available also on the blog at http://sca.jiscinvolve.org
The (SCA) http://www.jisc.ac.uk/contentalliance is funded by the JISC, Becta, BBC, British Library, NHS, MLA and the EPSRC. They are working to build consensus across the UK public sector through a framework of good principles and practices, for the benefit of all users of e-content.
SCA partners hold a large amount of content, much of which has special value either because it is unique, or because the collection provides comprehensive coverage of a domain. The SCA seeks to realise best value for money from the substantial public investment in this digital content.
This project follows on from work undertaken earlier this year relating to audience analysis and modelling. The project will identify and present current and emerging methods for audience research that could be used by the SCA partners and others to increase their understanding of and engagement with users. The work will be presented as a best practice toolkit, supported by case studies providing real-world examples of good practice.
The toolkit is for people in the UK public sector delivering online digital services who wish to research their audiences. It is primarily aimed at non-experts who do not have market research skills themselves, and who do not have access to dedicated market research teams. It is therefore likely to be most useful for people in small organisations/services, or those conducting small projects in larger organisations. It will provide the building blocks to enable people to design, conduct and apply their own bespoke audience analysis research, but it will not provide people with a ready made audience analysis programme.
The objective of this workshop is to share reactions to the draft toolkit and supporting case studies, and to consider how to embed best practice in the community. It will also be a forum for discussing other related topics, drawing on the experience and expertise of the attendees.
The JISC will consider reimbursement of standard class rail travel and economy class flights where your institution is not able to fund your travel, but please contact Emma Beer at e.beer@jisc.ac.uk to discuss this.
