The JISC RSC YH-managed Learning for Living & Work project has seen a regional success!
Chris Tansey, Foundation Course Leader at Wyke College, beat two other finalists to win in the Special Needs Practitioner category at the recent Handheld Learning Awards!
Chris adopted an unusual method when applying for the funding for assistive equipment. Instead of focusing on a few items of equipment, Chris bought one of every gadget he was
interested in. This ’scattergun’ approach worked and has led to a new way of thinking when rolling mobile learning projects out to colleges.
Congratulations Chris!

NEW JISC RSC YH FORUM EVENT
The Learning for Living & Work project has been succeeded by the new JISC RSC YH forum: “Excellence in Inclusivity”. The launch event for the forum took place last month and delegates were introduced to the new “Excellence in Inclusivity” case study website.
The next round of local meets have now been announced and bookings have opened on our website.
There are meetings in five areas within Yorkshire & Humber – North Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Leeds area, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. They take place across November and December and are FREE of charge.
These Local Support Forums are part of our overall support package for inclusivity. They are designed to be informal, to allow for networking and sharing of good practices, ideas and problem solving. This first meeting will clarify how this model will work, who is the best person from each provider to attend the forum. It will also identify what is meant and understood by inclusivity.
Who should attend? There are 2 places per education provider, and these could be taken by people responsible for or heavily involved in:- e-learning (ILT), Staff Development, Learner support, Teaching and Learning, senior management.
