You are cordially invited to the Leeds Girl Geek dinner on the evening of 13th August, at the Living Room in Leeds, close to the station.

Girl Geek Dinners were started in London three years ago as a way for women creatives, techies, scientists and programmers to meet up and socialise and not be outnumbered by men. The idea caught on and these dinners now happen all over the world, but this will be our first one in Leeds. The evening will be informal, friendly and relaxed.

Our speakers are:

Lydia Machell

A freelance music software developer with a background in arts and inventor of the Prima Vista Braille Music System. Inspired by early ringtone formulas, this transcribes standard print notation into Braille for blind musicians.

Lorna Mitchell

A developer, consultant and trainer for ibuildings in Leeds. Lorna is a PHP specialist, with a particular interest in databases and Subversion and background in Electronic engineering. Lorna’s also deeply involved with the PHPWomen group.

Tickets are ÂŁ10 per person, which covers the cost of wine and food, and registration is via the web site www.leedsgirlgeekdinners.com. There is also more detail on the site of the background to the events.
