New Build Forum

The JISC RSC YH is responding to the need to share knowledge and foresight on college new build in a number of ways.

We will be facilitating a series of workshops/forums, the first of which will be held at Calderdale College. The intention is to hold them at bimonthly intervals (or more frequently if the delegates require). There will be no charge for attendance.

The intention is that the agenda will be driven by the delegates with the broad aims being:
• to view and discuss existing plans or drafts and to share knowledge and thoughts on how these could be used to promote effective learning
• to build up a bank of knowledge on new build in order to share within and beyond the region
• to consider what the learner of the future will need
• to consider what the classroom and LRC of the future will look like

In addition to this workshop, it is our intention to house various types of media and information on new build on our learning platform and social network.

The inaugural meeting will look at the innovative manner in which Calderdale College is approaching its new build; will consider how to make best use of the workshops; will consider what guidance is currently available for college new build and what more is required; and will consider useful aspects of scenario planning (future gazing) in predicting the needs of future learners.

Who should attend?
The forum will be open to any college staff who have responsibility for, or are involved in, the planning of new build in their college.
