NIACE is looking for current or former E-Guides to participate in the 6-month Becta-funded research project exploring the frequency, level and ways in which tutors develop their information and communications technology (ICT) and e-learning skills, as a part of their programme of CPD.
During the 6 months, they will offer support in helping you to complete the journal by developing a template for your thoughts, written guidance and one-to-one contact with our researchers. This will begin with a telephone interview, at a time that suits you, where they will discuss the project with you and get a sense of your previous experience and engagement with CPD. At this point, you will be welcome to ask any questions and you can talk through your role in the research.
Benefits to the participant:
In addition to contributing to research that will inform CPD at both a national and local level, there are also personal benefits. If updated regularly, your reflective diary should easily fulfil the Institute for Learning’s (IfLs) requirement that full time teachers must reflect on 30 hours of CPD each year. NIACE would also like to make clear that they are not expecting you to undertake any particular or additional ICT or e-learning development during this period; instead they would ask that you reflect carefully upon what you would normally do.
To record your participation, the research team will provide a certificate, which will be sent to you upon completion of the study. As an added benefit, the reflection should reinforce your learning, both strengthening your understanding and leading to improved outcomes for you and your learners.
If you would like further information about the research, please contact Ewa Luger in the first instance: ewa.luger@niace.org.uk or call: 07810 770 394
