The Centre for Excellence in Leadership’s Leading the learner voice awards, now in their second year, celebrate the achievements that individuals and organisations in the further education and skills sector have made in embedding the learner voice, and provide
the chance to hold up and disseminate examples of best practice. The closing date for nominations has been extended by two weeks, and submissions should be received by 17.00 on Friday 16 May 2008.
CEL is keen to receive entries from across the further education system, including work-based learning, adult and community learning, independent specialist colleges and further education colleges.
The categories for 2008 are:
- Leading learner of the year
- Student governor of the year
- Representative organisation of the year
- Student liaison officer of the year
- Principal or senior leader of the year
- Most improved provider of the year
- Provider of the year
- Community and social cohesion
- Promoting religious dialogue and interfaith understanding
- Outstanding contribution to the leadership of learners
This year’s entries will be judged by:
- Andy Powell, chief executive of Edge
- Millar MacDonald, interim deputy director in the assuring quality division at DIUS
- Lynne Sedgmore, chief executive of CEL
- Emma Pearson, chair of the National Learner Panel
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 3 July 2008 at the Kensington Roof Gardens in London.
