JISC invites institutions to submit funding proposals for projects to undertake work under its 2008 Business and Community Engagement (BCE) programme. The BCE programme is a new and cross-cutting activity for JISC, supporting its strategic aim of “developing and implementing a programme to support institutions’ engagement with the wider community”.

This circular invites proposals for the following:

Call 1: Customer/Partner Relationship Management – Process Mapping and Self Analysis Tools
(Phase 1 of a 2-phase work-package). Funding of up to £50,000 is available for a project (up to eight months in duration) to produce guidance for institutions to help them assess and enhance the effectiveness of their use of Customer Relationship Management systems and processes, enterprise-wide, in pursuit of Business and community Engagement.

Call 2: Employer Engagement Systems and Process – Small Scale Pilots
Funding of up to £250,000 is available for five small scale pilots (£50,000 per pilot, each up to six months in duration) to explore and contextualise the processes, systems integration and infrastructure requirements of effective and integrated employer engagement within institutions.

Call 3: Employer Engagement Systems and Process – Supporting Study and Synthesis
Funding of up to £100,000 is available for a project to undertake a formative study, in parallel with, and using as source of material evidence and learning, the BCE Employer Engagement Small-Scale Pilot projects.

Call 4: Extending Access Management into BCE (Phase 1 of a 2-phase work-package)
Funding of up to £130,000 is available to undertake a scoping study and brief (up to eleven months in duration) to facilitate a number of pilot projects which will investigate the extension of Access Management services into Business and Community Engagement activities.

The deadline for receipt of all proposals is not later than 12 noon on 1 May 2008
