LLW TextHelp event picTextHelp Read/Write Gold is a literacy support tool designed to assist users of all ages who require extra assistance when reading or composing text. It is a well known piece of software to support learners with disabilities but it can, however, also be beneficial to non-disabled learners.

Mind Mapping software (e.g. Inspirations, Mind Genius, OpenMind, or one of the free tools that are available) is often used with learners with dyslexia. It is used to create diagrams of relationships between ideas or other pieces of information. Again, to really unlock its potential, it can also be used across the curriculum. This event will look at the strategic steps that would be needed in order to embed one or both of these types of tools.

Aims of the Day:
Attendees at the event will leave with a workable plan, relevant to their college, of how to implement these tools across their curriculum.

Who Should Attend?
This event is aimed at managers and strategic decision makers in the colleges that are leading on the Learning for Living and Work project and would be most beneficial for those that have responsibilities for staff development, learning and teaching and ILT. Due to numbers, we will initially be limiting this event to 2 people per institution.

Date: Wednesday 30th April 2008

Time: 10:00 – 13:30
