The JISC has commissioned a study into the use of Shared Services for administrative systems in FE and HE across the UK. The JISC has a web page about this at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/programmes/programme_jos/ssprev.aspx which explains in some detail what shared services are, as well as the purpose of the study.

You may well know that the Funding Councils have Shared Services high on their agenda. The work covers the four home nations of the UK and has the following objectives:

1. To describe the current landscape and the potential development of shared services across UK FE and HE.
2. To identify the marketplace for administrative systems.
3. To provide advice and guidance to management in UK FE and HE institutions about involvement in shared provision of services.
4. To inform future JISC and funding council work in supporting and assisting shared services.

The purpose of this survey is to identify the software systems in use. You should be able to complete it within 5 minutes.
