Jointly led by Becta and the LSC, the Technology Exemplar Network is a new approach to support learning providers in further developing their e-maturity via peer support and sharing of effective practice.
The Technology Exemplar Network is all about sharing of experience and discussion of issues – a true peer support approach. All learning providers participating in the Network will therefore be expected to proactively communicate across the Network and share their aspirations, issues, learning points and areas for development in an open and honest manner, and to positively contribute to the objectives of the Technology Exemplar Network
Two opportunities exist for learning providers to participate in the Network:
Attaining exemplar status and becoming a Technology Exemplar network supporting provider, responsible for taking a lead in developing the Network
Participating in the Network as a Technology Exemplar Network developing provider.
Jon Gamble (LSC) and Jane Williams (Becta) have jointly written to Chief Executives, Principals and Heads of Service of all providers who are eligible to participate in the Technology Exemplar Network. The letter contains an update about the Network and also invites applications for exemplar status.
Key to the success of the Network will be the award of exemplar status to up to ten learning providers. To achieve this prestigious award, providers will need to be able to demonstrate a strong track record of embedding the use of technology into their teaching and learning as well as a willingness to take a lead in the Network and participate in honest discussion with other providers about their inspirational journey. The closing date for applications from providers wishing to bid for exemplar status is 31 December 2007.
LSC and Becta will invite applications for ‘developing’ provider status early in 2008. Aspiring developing providers will need to be able to demonstrate strong commitment to progressing further in their journey towards e-maturity as well as a willingness to engage openly with other participants. Up to fifty providers will be selected to participate in the ‘developing’ provider category in phase one.
Funding is available to enable learning providers to participate in the Network during phase one.
